A Systematic Review of Reminiscence Therapy Interventions Applied to Patients with in Dementia

Abstract
Objective : The purpose of this study is to suggest a variety of reminiscence therapy methods and effects that can be applied to dementia patients.

Methods : Research papers provided by earticle, SCHOLAR, and Pubmed, data from 2014 to March 2019 were collected. Key words were searched using words such as Dementia and ¡®Reminiscence Therapy . A total of 19 papers were used for analysis using the exclusion criteria.

Results : This study focuses on mediation methods, effects and evaluation tools. The research on reminiscence therapy has been actively conducted in 2 sections in 2014, 5 sections in 2015, 2 sections in 2016 and 2017, and 6 sections in 2018. According to personal experiences and memories such as reminiscence activities, life cycle retrospective reminiscence programs, important experiences and good experiences, and stories of the past, and reminiscence using media (videos, animations, music, digital software, etc.) Various interventions such as treatment are applied. In addition, when the reminiscence treatment was applied, the effect of reducing depression and improving cognitive function was most confirmed. Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) was the mostcommonly used evaluation tool.

Conclusion : The purpose of this study was to investigate the reminiscence therapy method and interventional effects of dementia patients and to suggest various methods for the treatment of dementia. In the future, it is hoped that comparative studies between various reminiscence therapy will be actively conducted to compare which interventions are more effective for patients with dementia.
